A Raleigh-based hospitality developer is bringing a 120-room Marriott International flag to Steele Creek.
MJM Group is at the helm of a $20 million Residence Inn at the intersection of Dixie River Road and Trojan Drive in Charlotte. The 82,000-square-foot hotel is scheduled to be completed by late 2017.
Residence Inn is the extended-stay brand of the Bethesda, Md.-based hotelier. The 3.5-acre property in Steele Creek will feature an outdoor pool, an outdoor living area, meeting space and a fitness center.
Chris Thomas of Childress Klein represented the seller, Steele Creek (1997) LLC, in the transaction. Kurt Schoenhoff at Selwyn Property Group represented MJM Group. MJM purchased the property under the name Steele Creek Hotel Holdings LLC for $1.1 million in a deal that closed May 6, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.
MJM Group’s Charlotte-area projects include the dual-branded Marriott Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites in the airport submarket and the dual-branded Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn at Harris Corners.
Midas Hospitality, a St. Louis-based hospitality company, will manage the property. The hotel is being designed by St. Louis’ Gray Design, and North Carolina’s Stimmel Associates is the appointed civil engineer.
